Yam Kootu

Yam kootu is a easy kootu made for south Indian sambar/kozhambu. It is very simple to make and doesn’t require much ingrediants. 

Best Accompaniment : Any Sambar/Kozhambu/Rasam/Curd Rice


Ingredients:

1. Yam - 1/2 Kg, cut into med size cubes
2. Coconut - 1/2 cup
3. S.onion - 3-4
4. Jeera - 3/4 tsp
5. Red Chillies - 4-5
6. Mustard - 1/2 tsp
7. broken urud dhal - 1/2 tsp
8. Curry leaves - few
9. Salt, oil - as needed 


Pre-requisite:

1.Grind to Paste: coconut, jeera, s.onion & red chillies.
2. Pressure cook yam for just 2 whistles. cool & remove.


Method:

1. In Kadai/Pressure cooker, season with mustard, broken urud dhal and curry leaves.

2. Add the cooked yam to the above and mix well. Ensure the yam is not broken. Just a stir will do to mix.

3. Add the ground paste & add required salt. 




4. Allow to boil for just a min or two and remove.

 Yam kootu is ready!!!
