Mattar Paneer

This is another tasty dish based on Paneer complemented with Mattar (Peas). This is a healthy dish, as this dish gives you the benefit of both paneer and peas.  This dish is for a perfect indulgence with any pulav or biryani.

Ingredients:

Paneer Pieces - 1 Cup
Peas - 1/2 Cup (Optional)
Onion - chopped - 2 (big)
Tomato - Chopped - 3 (big)
Powders : Chilly powder - 1 tsp, Coriander powder - 1 1/2 tsp, turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
Salt
Oil
Kasoori Methi
Ginger-garlic paste (optional)

Coriander leaves - a bunch (optional)
Seasoning : Cumin seeds

 
Pre-requisite:
 Grind to fine paste : 10-12 cashews with little water


Method:

Preperation1:
 1. In Kadai, pour required oil
2. Add Onion and saute for 3-5 mins
3. Add Tomato and saute for 3-5 mins
4. Cool the Onion+tomato mixture and grind to fine paste adding water and keep ready.




  Note: In this preperation, instead of Kadai, I have microwaved HIGH the onion and tomato's for 8 minutes and grounded the mixture.

Preperation2:

1. In Kadai, pour required oil and season with Jeera.

2. Add the onion+tomato paste from Preperation1 and cook covered for 3-5 mins on low flame.

3. Add Ginger Garlic Paste (optional step only).


4. Open and add the powders and mix well and add required amount of salt.


5. If you are using peas, add peas now and mix and cook for a min or two.


6. Add Paneer pieces and mix all well.


7. Add Cashew paste after adding paneer and mix well and cook for 3-5 mins.


8. Sprinkle Kasoori Methi on top (This gives very nice flavour to paneer masala), if kasoori methi is not there, optionally add coriander leaves for garnishing.


A very tempting matter paneer is ready.
