Panch Dhal

Panch Dhal is a very protein rich dhal and is similar to making normal dhal, except instead of single dal, it makes use of 5 dhals, namely, toor dhal, channa dhal, moong dhal, urud dhal and green gram dhal. All these dhals are packed with protein and hence it is most suitable to call this dhal “Rich Protein Dhal”.

Additionally, I have used Black urud dhal too in this recipe.

Ingredients:

1. Dhals : Moong Dhal - 1/4 cup, Toor dhal - 1/4 cup, Channa Dhal - 1/4 cup, Urud Dhal - 1/4 cup, green gram dhal -  1/4 cup
2. Onion - Chopped - 2 (Med)
3. Tomato - Chopped - 2 (Med)
4. Ginger-garlic paste
5. Chilly Powder
6. Turmeric Powder
7. Garam masala powder
8. Coriander leaves - chopped few
9. Seasoning: Mustard & Jeera

Pre-requisite:

Cook all the dhals for 4-5 whistles and cool and mash and add required water according to your consistency.

Method:

1. Season in oil as above and add ginger-garlic paste.

2. Add onion and saute till colour changes to light brown.

3. Add tomato and saute till it becomes little mushy.

4. Add the Chilly powder and turmeric powder and required amount of salt and mix well.

5. Let the dhal cook for about 5-7 mins after the above steps and just before removing , add 1 tsp of Garam masala powder and coriander leaves, mix well and boil for a min and remove.
